this guy!
broke my arm while arm wrestling my bro at a patty's day party. spiral fracture about 3 inches long on my left arm starting 2 inches north of elbow. in a cast from shoulder to fingers, and seeing a doc tomorrow (hopefully) to find out if i will need surgery or not.

best part of all this... i was wearing a tshirt that said "stereotype me, i'm irish".

lived up to that shit.

You never know. No presents for you til your arm gets better. It'll only frustrate you.

I knew somebody in college--a female graduate student about my size--who had a scar ~3 inches long on the back of her right arm. From arm wrestling--her arm broke and the rough edge of the bone ripped out through her skin. After seeing that, I swore off arm wrestling. (A big loss, I know.)

Hope you feel better soon and that it's not your dominant hand!

Seriously. SERIOUSLY.

Also, way to break it in as inconvenient a way as possible.

ha!
I actually meant breaking it above the elbow, thus necessitating a full arm cast.

i got s the good drugs
i did find out the hard way though that i am resistant to morphine. they gave me 4mg, which is the usu dose, then another 4, then 8mg an hour later, and i was still hollerin when the xray tech had to do post-cast pics.

what dooya not understand?
i think imma need it. the cast they put me in is a "gravity cast", which immobilized my elbow, and is supposed to pull down on the bone to keep it in place. i kin still feel it grindin around if i move it wrong. my guess is the doc just wanted me the hell outta the er.

if you were REALLY irish, it'd been broken for a week before you noticed. ok, before you sobered up enough to notice :-p

YIKES!
That does not sound good. It's a good thing my brother and I stick to drunken belt fighting and not arm wrestling.

What's the story for people at work?

you mean my work?
i'm telecommuting until further prognosis. if you mean what happened, my bro and i did drunken arm wrestling... i lost rightie (no knuckles) - so i challenged a swap of arms. i lifted my elbow (couple times according to g), and the last time it gave, my arm made the sound like pulling apart a chicken makes, and c ran to the can to puke. i'll perolly make a longer post w. more detail later.

Re: you mean my work?
Ugh... My knees are going weak. I'm glad I was not there, as I have a terrible stomach for these things.

What I meant by story for people at work is "I was attacked by a Bear" vs. "I got liquored up and arm wrestled my bro" ;-)

UUUUUHHHHH. jesus, that is awful. i 'm sorry bernie. is this gonna fuck with your work big time? i remember when i had my left arm in a splint for a sprained wrist for a week and it hindered me significantly... can't imagine how bad this must be for you...

hope you mend up quickly.
