So i just got out of a meeting. This is not abnormal, I have lots of meetings.

However, I was meeting with 4/7ths of the core of PhD's and STATISTICIANS who needed to be told, by me, that thier data collection method was not only flawed, but, in it's current form, made it impossible to work with in any other way than with the scantron form they have been using for the last 4 years.

To boot, as part of this meeting, it came up that the forms I used to MAKE the bloody online application are flawed. Hows about that for a fucking deadline pincher - this thing has to be done by the end of '03!

I'm so glad I don't keep a gun at work.

Hey, hopefully you're not dissing Scantron - that's the only part of my company that's solvent!! Those little bubble forms are keeping me in a job.

Sad, isn't it?

not dissin the 'trons (though they are the bane of highschool/college students everywhere). The way they implimented it though is just fucktarded. They basically administer a 40 page questionairre to people with TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) then score them, leaving out lots of pertinent data, and ignoring wholsesale any incosistent data. The inconsistencies, however, are mostly related to the fact that you have people who can hardly hold a pencil are required to pencil in hows and rows of lil dots. These are people who walk around with helmets and wear only velcro - to expect them to keep all thier rows and columns straight is insane, and to defer treatment as a result of these screening mistakes is, in my opinion, inhumane. While I agree that the scantron is nice and efficent - the test is usually read to the subject by an administer - who really should be the one recording the data though the interview.

What is most aggrivating to me, is taht this project is tied into a grant, so it has a hard deadline of Jan 1, and they are telling me my data for creating the ENTIRE application is wrong. WTF? I mean, I have been jerked around on deadlines before, but usually it is last minute nitpicky shit - not someone telling me a month from the deadline that the kernel of the project is flawed!
