busy and sick

this weekend involved me doing a lot of nothing while trying to get better. i pretty much canceled on everything i had after my brother's birthday. my voice has come back, but my chest is still rattly.
i don't want to go on the cart.

interviews today, and some crazy meetings.
i have to do a frankandeddie update during lunch (if get one)!

jesus, i am boring.

on an interesting note, friday night was way nuts. wangch61 had a house party, which was partially co-opted to celebrate my brother's b-day. shenanigans were frightful, and while i was not drinking seriously, i was out waaaay too late.

i am contemplating a side career in party planning/catering. it is a big change from tech, but equally challenging, in other arenas.

probly won't make you feel better, but I had to be awake at 4:45 on Sunday to come to work at my shitty customer service job. Not a whole lotta people on _that_ train, let me tell you...

feel better!

maybe i should visit you one day at work - what horror that would be, eh?

Re: aw
ugh. spare me the increase of humiliation. working here's bad enough. doing it in front of people i know is tortuous. in theory i get a half hour break, tho i haven't had one in months... i could come meet you somewhere in zee parky park...

Almost applied
I almost applied for some sort of donor database positon at the met, then I realized that I would probably be wrong for the job. And then I realized that you would be doing the interviews and I couldn't just come in and tell you interview fibs!
Wouldn't that have been awkward!

that woulda been my assistant position.
fwd me your resume if you are actually interested, but the job is 30k, solid ceiling, so you probably don't want it!

Re: HA
Yup, 30 puts me back in the land of Ramen and Payless.
I like expensive cheese and going snowboarding.

oooh i can help with the catering! i make a mean ambrosia salad.
Mar. 7th, 2005 08:00 pm (UTC)
ambrosia salad makes me want to technicolor yawn all over.
i am playing with the idea though - it can't be much worse than the tech shit, can it?

Re: ug
hehe... ambrosia salad is an abomination.

the food industry is a different creature. while i know your working hours now aren't confined to the 9-5 schedule, in the food industry there is no schedule. no holidays. no weekends. it really isolates you from your friends. you pretty well have to hand over your life if you want to succeed.

but how is that different from doing off-hours tech support? i've cancelled dates, missed vacations, been gone for 20+ hours at a stretch over a weekend...

i'm just sayin, this is supplemental income, so i couldn, in theory, take the jobs that i want when i want them, providing that i could get enough of a rep/budget together to make it fly.

it is just an idea, i want to do a few more dry runs first.

Re: right
i wasn't trying to discourage you, just telling you what my experience was. from what i read in your lj, it seems like despite your off hours tech stuff you still get to see and hang out with your friends with some sort of regularlity. when i was cooking, i didn't see much of my fiends or family at all.

i usu squeeze in one night a week, sometimes more when I am lucky.

i am not planning on becoming a full time caterer, and i completely apprecaite your insight on the biz. i just need to find a rich patron who wants to pay me obnoxious amounts of money to stuff thier face with easy-to-make delicacies.

maybe i should focus on becoming a personal chef =)

i'll scope out the mucinex
it is an idea - i mean, i've been running fairly large/complicated parties for years, but never really thought i could make much money at it, which is why i never really pursued it. but, if i could turn it into a regular thing...

B'days n Brothers
That's a coinky dink, my bro had his 18th on Fri as well and it was a massive night, he was so trashed. It was quite funny watching him, a little bit of a worry too.
