so the moving company who said that they could hook me up the weekend i want to move called me at 4pm saturday at work. they left me a vm asking to have me call back to confirm, which i had already done. i just called them back, and they told me that they had already given up the slot i wanted, since i didn’t get back to them. i asked them why they called me at work instead of home, and they said that they called both. that is some bullshit.

so, folks who have used movers recently, hit me with some 411 - my connection just totally dropped the ball, so now i need to hustle to get something else to span the gap.

i really fucking hate moving.

Re: if i'm not too late
hmm, is that much of a deal?

i dunno, but we used a company that moved us out of our 2BR, 5 floor walkup (no elevator) in hells kitchen to a 2nd floor walkup in prospect heights brooklyn for... something like $380 (thats including the tip we gave em)... though we had most (~80% or so) of our stuff boxed already...

the catch is, theyre chinese and speak very little english (but speak some spanish, curiously- we communicated with them mostly in spanish)... but can they ever move! they didnt even break anything or attempt anything sketchy at all. and did i mention how cheap? damn. and they did it inside less than 4 hours.

b, if youre interested, lemme know. i dont have their number on me, but we still keep their card on the fridge at home and have referred them to like 5 friends who found them to be tops. just get an estimate from em first ;)

just my two cents :)

holy shit yeah
that is hella cheap - the communication game will be fun tho. did they do an on-site for the estimate?

Re: holy shit yeah
nope, they just asked about how many rooms and had me name the big stuff, like tables and the king-size bed, etc... asked how many flights, what size truck, how many ppl to send, etc.

they ended up sending three little older guys, but they ended up really surprising me by how well/hard they worked... and a large truck with all necessary padding/hand-trucks, etc.

very budget, but very effective and careful.

imho, i have my questions, perhaps, as to the legitimacy of some of their mover's citizenship status, but... thats why theyre so cheap.

and i know, that might sound terrible, but at the time, we could only afford it cause of the spectacular deal. i bought em soda and water and coffee as they worked and such... even helped out. they quoted me a $100 cheaper price if i was willing to carry boxes down too and work alongside them loading the truck.

the extra $ might be worth it for a full-service moving company, but i thought id pass along infoz about our deal ust in case you needed more options amongst the 10000000000 movers in the city!
