that's a good thing, but i fear it may allow the chimp-in-chief some wiggle room in the spin factory; if there's a scapegoat, all he has to fess up to is putting a used-horse dealer in charge of FEMA, as opposed to not giving a rat's ass about poor darkies, as is evident.

Don't be ridiculous, even that would require admitting to some sort of failure.

well, here we see the problem of making all your coke-buddies high ranking national officials; if the media actually decides to pay attention, as they seem to be in this instance, it's got to be somebody's fault. he can't blame arabs, he can't blame left-wing nutjobs, he can't pin it on some abstract concept and he can't declare war on mother nature; all that's left is his buddies. and someone has to take the blame.

No, all they have to do is start an investigation, then say they won't comment on any on-going investigation, then make sure the investigation drags on so long that no one cares anymore by the time something comes out of it.

I should be making so much more money than I do.

but all that really hinges on the media. you've got to get them to ignore it long enough to fade from people's memories; find something else to distract them (i.e. a war or political scandal) and then publish the reports in the basement of a building with no electricity guarded by hellhounds. i don't think that's gonna happen in this case - the media is pissed. heads have to roll, and soon; chimp-in-chief's approval rating depends on it.

Dude, the new season of Every Reality Show On Earth is starting, people will get distracted, ratings and readership will decline, someone will get attacked by a shark or a white kid will disappear and problem solved.

yeah, but how easy do you think it'll be to get that shark to eat that white kid?

i think the way it's been covered so far, how quickly it's been crystalized into a race issue and an economic issue, will give it more staying power than you'd otherwise expect. and i think the general attitude is different this time, too - after 9/11, people were looking for answers and a head on a pike; after this, i expect people will be paying more attention to how the administration wiggles.

one chink in the armor- the senate approved brown. And wasn't joe lieberman a big proponent of his?

right, but who trusts lieberman? he was the token demo vote so gw could say 'both sides supported him'.

they probably bought him off with a bag of candy.

alls i'm saying is, token or not, joey joe joe shabadoo is a democrat and he supported brown. and maybe others did too. do you remember a huge outcry from dems when he was nominated/confirmed? I don't.

true, but it seems like the dems have lost their ability -to- outcry. and frankly, i never believed in that 'speak now or forever hold your peace' shite - people can speak up whenever they damn well please.

seriously tho, i never imagined i'd see the democratic party become the 'we're almost the republican party'. sad state of affiars
