conspiracy?

did anyone else out there notice that there are a huge number of sick people in the ny-metro area, all with either light flu like symptoms, or symptoms which mimic extreme allergy? anyone else notice that many of the people in this state are people either not usually prone to illness, or allergy? what gives?

i'm at work today, but fuck if i don't want to be dead.

Dude, don't do this to me.

Pollen is supposedly really bad this year.

could be
it jsut seems strikingly odd to me. this is cross demographic, cross age group, and, for the msot part, limited to ny-nj-ct. wtf?

actually, yeah.

and I've had a sore throat and blocked nose, but not a runny nose or cough which usually go with it for me.

It's odd, b/c it is uncomfortable, but not as bad as my allergies can get at the change of the season.

Personally I think it's the odd weather and the nasties in the air and clouds coming down on us.

hmm
the nasties in the clouds would make so much more sense if we had lots of raid, but the weather has been goddamn beautiful!

Its a good time of year to get sick...the weather is still pretty nice so people think its ok to walk out without a jacket on. It sorta the thing our mothers warned us about.

hmm
but that is the point, if the weather wasn't horrible, but bad enough to get sick from, i would understand it. the weather has been sorta "best weather all season" kinda shit. i'm fucking paranoid about this shit, i know, but this seems really odd to me how many people are sick with the same symptoms around the same time in the same genral area.

you're totally right. i used to work for the dept of health, and i know the inside track. there is a huge bioterrorism epidemic that is spreading, with no cure, and they aren't saying anything because there's nothing we can do except turn into zombies.

just kidding. i thought it was just allergies, since fall is starting. i took a claritin this morning and feel fine now.

I don't think it's just NYC.

Half the folks I work with are down for the count the past few days.

I blame air conditioners...whatever it is, it is giving Kezzer hives and we're going to have to start giving him oatmeal baths.

what *achoo* are you *Ah-Choooi* talking *hachoooo* a*choo*bout?

peter and I have the sneezes so bad, my parrot has started imitating us. it's really funny, but at the same time, a little sad. little birdie sneezes.

my theory: the air has been very dry and yesterday especially, it was windy, hence the stirring of the great uberbeast cloud of particulate matter. soot is gnar-gnar. leaves are drying out and crumbling. dust is flying through the air like a flock of winged anthrax spores. today I walked out of my house to go RIDE MY NEW VESPA and I could see the haze from a very close distance. as soon as it rains again, things will settle down. it has been a seriously heavily polluted and hot summer. actually, and you are going to be SHOCKED, but I am looking forward to winter this year. the clean quiet soft blankets of snow.....
