panoramania

It still needs more work i think. I hate that I had a drop of rain on the lens that ffed up the Chrysler building.

Nice Panoramic Shot. Looks like you stitched, what, 4 shots together? Nice job! What program did you use for combining 'em?

photoshop and hands
they were not techmically part of a panroamic set, which is why the stitches are obvious. it is actually three shots - the discoloration from the left third comes from the sunbeam, which is what i started taking the picture with.

Re: photoshop and hands
Heck, then you've done a great job with color matching -- every time I've done panoramic shots, the colors all seem to shift slightly from shot to shot ...

Post?
Definitely a cool pic - the color is great, very rich. It looks like you had nearly perfect light, used a custom white balance, or did a little work in post. If the latter, I'd be curious what you did - looks like a boost in saturation, but w/out tarting it up

lots of it was post production
if you look at my flickr feed, you can see the other photos that this was made fron. it wasn't p3erfect light per-se but it was pretty damn close. the rain had just stopped, and there was a really brilliant sunbeam lancing across mid-manhattan.

i definitely tweaked the saturation and olor levels, but i use overlapping photoshop layers to make sure things get smoothed out as well as possible. there is still absolutely no way to get the seams to meld as tightly as i would want without using a tripod. considering i shot by hand from the back of the cab though, i am pretty happy with the result.

here's one of southeast melbourne from our 2nd tallest building. it's about 18 months old. and it's not as good as yours, but doing it wasted an afternoon i should have been working ;)
