food surprise

much to my surprise, the "low carb-oat covered bun" in my lunch was not too bad tasting.
i must say, however, that it had the texture of a hockey puck that had been microwaved on "high" then left in a humidor.
even with the oats, a horse would not't eat that shit.
lets hear it for new uses for sawdust!

i think that any food with a "low-" prefix or "-free" suffix is bound not to taste like what it claims to taste like. why didn't they have whole grain bread or something like that at your eatery? that would have tasted much better.

well, i tend to agree with you
but, in this case, it was a pre-fixe, and i had about six seconds to grab a bite. what I actually got was a grilled portabello and pepper sandwich on a low-carb bun. this is supposed to be healthy, i guess. there were no other options remaining by the time i grabbed food which i could eat that didn't have mayo in them (and i refuse to eat pre-made sandwiches with mayo that have been sitting around since 11).

i am generally much pickier about my bread.

the exception to this rule, that i have recently found, are the no-fat pillsbury buttermilk biscuts, as well as low-fat sour cream. in both cases though, there are probably enough carcinogens in there that i would be better off blending a carton's worth of cigarette butts in to a half a cup of three-misle-island water and drinking that with a straw.
