tumult, chaos and falling rocks

first off, happy birthday to slangston.

in the last 48 hours i have:

  • Battled and lost to a migraine

  • Upgraded my server and most of its parts, both software and hardware.

  • Shuffled half a terabyte of personal information across four hard drives

  • Slept six hours

  • Canceled on a client and a dear friend, both of which I have to make up.

  • Completely migrated my settings to my new pc, which is the most ostentatious thing I have ever owned

  • Billed about 3k in business, booked six upcoming jobs. Now I just need to settle my invoices for December so I can get all my taxes filed before I go to Mexico. That shouldn't be too tough, right?

the last conscious memory i have of the shirt i am wearing today was from a few years ago at a friend's wedding, when i was still with richelle. said friend now has a daughter, who is a couple years old. when i pulled my head out of the sink a few minutes ago and looked in the mirror, i was suddenly back in a cramped bathroom in the back of a delectable party hall in long island city, and i had to be sure to get some good pictures of the skyline. what a fuckin head-trip. i know i have probably worn this shirt a dozen, if not two dozen times since then, but i will be dammned if i can remember a single one of those times.

my head feels like an overripe melon, and i have too much to do, and not enough time to do it in. how is everyone else's week going?

a not-so-funny person on im, who is forever after me about how i looked better with short hair, suggested that my migraines came from the roots of my hair pulling on my brain. the longer my hair, the more pulls, so if i cut my hair, it would cure me. if i thought so, i'd look like daddy warbucks tonight. it has been many moons since i cut my hair. any of you wise guys (and gals) think its time for me to shear the locks? i like having long hair, mostly because i don't have to go to the barber, which i hate doing.

Cut your hair?

I think your hair is beautiful as it is. I've always told you that.

Feel better. If I had any advice you haven't already heard or used already yourself, I'd give it to you.

Re: tx lass
Funny as I was having one of my twice yearly bouts of "this would be so much easier if I cut it all off..."

or retards of a feather flocking together.

if you do decide to chop the locks, can we have a scalping party and nail the ponytail to the wall?

nah, if i did it i would donate the hair. there are some unhappy chemo-heads out there that would definitely be kept warm by my mane

i dunno, dude. you look good with long hair, but change is sometimes a good thing, especially if your migraine pain is leading you to desperation. if you hate it you can always just grow it back.

but then you have to deal with that pita point where you look like a 1970's porn star. if i cut my hair and decided to grow it back out, i'd defintiely have to shave my goatee while it was at that annoying length you can't tie it back at.

I love having long hair, even though it's not as long as your hair. There are so many cute and trendy haircuts I could have had over the years... bangs, layers, crops, etc. I've stuck with this haircut over the years, and I think it's because... I LIKE IT and I think it looks good!

I'd change it when you are 100% ready and because YOU want too, not because someone has suggested it.

good point
i'm not ging to do it because i am not 100%. however, sometimes it just takes someone pointing out something to me for me to explore a whole new way of thinking/looking at something. in those cases, i am not acting neccisarily "because they say so" but rather, because what they said got me thinking about something that i haven't thought about.

you look good with long hair. i can't really imagine you with short hair.

take an ace bandage and wrap it around your head over your eyes, nice and tight and lay on the floor with you legs up the wall--scoot your butt as close to the wall as you can and just lay there for a while. It will lower your blood pressure and the pressure will feel good.

hope you feel better soon.

funny about the hair/migraine connection. bald guys are sexy!

Re: thanks for the advice
have you started a count-down?

did you do coffee? take any and all meds you can? also I use accupressure--pinch the meaty part of the web between your thumb and forefinger. hold for a couple minutes. I do both hands one after the other. when headaches are very bad the relief is only while I hold the pressure, but during a bad headache, any relief is welcome.

:) I'm sure your longer hair is sexy, too!
