hah
dude, i don't know if you downloaded/watched the play footage/demo yet(it is 20 minutes but totally worth the download), but they are evolving many of the races strategies by adding a few extra layers. i don't know if bunkers are going to make it, given the number of troop types listed in the demo that just fucking _annhiliate_ ground areas.

Too early for me to get excited about Yet Another Blizzard Sequel. But other then the use of the Havok Engine ... eh, it just looks like a new SC mod at this point. I'll wait and see, and get excited when I see something really new.

i have a feeling this is gonna be a pretty complete reworking
i've played some pretty fun mods, but, ultimately, they are all still working around the same function units and animations. aside from the visual pizzaz being updated, they are changing the core mechanics of how some of the races _work_ - that means a whole new way of dealing with things from a strategy standpoint.

i simmered for WC3 for ages, and was not disappointed. this seems to have similar promise to me.

It'll suck unless you're gonna poopsock until you know all the builds and rushes inside and out.

I don't see how that's fun unless you're making money as a pro-gamer.

battle.net is lame
i have a bunch of friends into rts - it makes learning games fun! (and oh, the smacktalk). honestly, i'm looking forward to shifts in strategy, as well as the use of terrain. aside from Shogun; Total War, i haven't really played an RTS that uses terrain in a way which makes it as meaningful as real millitary sims do.

besides, the quality-add to me is the mod cummonity. warcraft3 was not anywhere near as robust as 2 was in terms of replay, but it was WAY better on the toolset side. some of the custom games i have played, you almost forget what the base system you are playing it was. coming back around after all these years gone will give a whole new generation of RTS players some time in a genre they haven't had a strong platform for, unless they have an older sibling or a young dad.
