i won. ikea lost.

saturday A. & i went to ikea, and was in and out in under two hours. delivery showed up late, but in thier window. had a nice cuban dinner w/ rakshaka, who finally got to meet A., and went home at a reasonable hour. sorry you had a bad vehicular day man!

yesterday, all day, was assebly. I started ~ 10:30, was finished by ~7. made some fantastic baked chicken and perogie, worked on my rpg a bit, researched the hell out of a last-minute getaway for columbus day weekend, and went to bed by ~ 1. the only battle wound of note was when an ikea-screw went about 1/4" into my foot, leaving a nice pea-sized hole which has been throbbing since. it ain't a project until there is blood...

still no dice on a good getaway in budget. i wish direct flights were as cheap as indirect flights =/

i have a lot of side work this week. help pay dem bills!

well, that is the rub
i was initially thinking something tropical, but A. doesn't have her passport up-to-date, which is a challenge in that regard. Florida looked like it held some promise, but unless we want to swap planes in Wallawalla, or travel at ungodly hours, all the "package deals" quickly evaporate. We are trying to keep the whole deal below 1k in terms of travel, amenities, and lodgings.

The other idea floating around was something new-englady, bed & breakfast type thing, which is probably what we will end up doing, but i was trying to skip driving, since that is a hassle in and of itself.

Re: well, that is the rub

puerto rico and USVI can be done on the (relatively) cheap and require no passport. maybe someplace off the beaten path in florida would be less, although i am surprised that you cannot find direct flights. seems like there are so many flights from NY-area airports to west palm beach, miami, orlando, tampa, etc.

i've had a connection in NY recommended to me when checking flights from AZ to socal. wtf.

well, on the cheap...
i can find the direct flights, but they immediately jump the cost of the package 3-400$. this is dumb, we are planning last minute - this wouldn't have been a problem if we were planning this a month and a half ago, but neither of us knew how burned out we'd be by now, then.
