I just got a call from the realtor's - apparently the owner approved someone who applied Saturday through another agent.
Search is back on.
Fucking moving blows.

I want to dislike this here instead of on Facebook. Where are you looking?

we were looking in bkln
this knocked us on our ass enough, i think, that we might need a rally before going back out again.

poop sandwich.
Did you mention this at dinner? Am I that much of a jerk that I wasn't paying attention? I'm sorry. Are you in a rush to do this? There's time to recover, right?

there is time
but this is like blue balls at the end of a 90 minute porno. this is the second time this has happened - A. and i find and agree on an awesome place, then lose it.

i didn't mention it -i'm trying to pull up on the anger/dissapointment stick, but that is hard, considering we have to go back there tonight to get the damn refund check for all the $ we put down (the realtor is right in the nabe).

oh GOD, NYC apartment hunting. I know exactly how you feel. go get a drink, that's the only solution.

tx tami
did you craigslist your last joint, or was that a friend hook-up? i'd love some sage advice - bkln is a lot harder to navigate (hunting wise) than manhattan, i'm finding.

Re: tx tami
my last joint in brooklyn? the tenement that was located between two housing projects and a vacant lot? the one where my neighbor was mugged inside our building in the middle of the day at knifepoint? Yes, I found that little gem on craigslist.

but when I lived in a nice apartment in Brooklyn (which was only 7 blocks from the shithole), I used a broker. and it was still a painful process.

what areas of BK are you looking in?

kinda all over
right now we are trying to keep A.'s commute under 30 (she's in Bkln Heights) - so that sets some hard outer boundaries. Ideally, i'd like to be able to get to wor in under a year myself, but I don't have to get up early to deal with screaming kids - just screaming adults.

ugh i know exactly how you feel- i wouldn't wish this on anybody. laura and i spent quite a bit of time looking around albany for a place, finally found one we loved (and we were the first people the landlord showed it to) and four days later, when i called with a question about the application, found out he'd already rented it to somebody else. it was like being kicked in the stomach. soldier on though... you'll find someplace else. in the meantime though, sorry...

i would actually be okay with the issue as you described it, but we had put down deposit $ and everything. Nothing we can do about it, but it is, as you say, a kick in the gut.
